Asos, the British online fashion retailer, is set to create some job opportunities for the people in Northern Ireland.
The fashion e-tailer will be, reportedly, investing £14 million in a new Tech Hub in Belfast – The new hub is expected to create more than 180 jobs over the course of next three years.
To be operational some time in 2022, the new Tech Hub will have 52 dedicated roles in its first year.
While announcing the same on Tuesday (28 September 2021), Gordon Lyons, Northern Ireland’s Economy Minister, said that the recruitment process for the new dedicated roles is already underway.
More on the e-tailer’s move to invest in the new Tech Hub, Nick Beighton, CEO, Asos, said that the retailer is continually investing in its technology capabilities and the new Tech Hub will provide Asos with tech expertise to drive future growth.
Nick further added that Belfast has a wealth of tech talent and Asos is excited to establish a permanent base in such a vibrant city.
The Minister Gordon Lyons, meanwhile, said that once established, the new Tech Hub will contribute almost £6.5 million in additional annual salaries to the local economy.
Besides, 130 of the new roles will participate in the pre-employment ‘assured skills training programme’, which will offer the company a pipeline of skilled people in next three years, added the Minister.
Asos sells over 850 brands in addition to its own range of apparels and accessories. It also ships to 196 countries from fulfilment centres in the UK, USA and Europe.
