To help and support digital businesses in cross-border transactions, Bangladesh Government is formulating guidelines within a legal framework to support e-commerce companies to engage in export-import activities.
Media reports maintained this citing the concerned officials.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, General Secretary of the e-commerce association of Bangladesh or E-Cab, Abdul Wahed Tomal, said, “…the e-commerce sector has begun to revive as many local companies have pledged investment in the sector,” and going on to add, “A meeting was held on cross-border e-commerce policy recently. We gave inputs in the primary development of the zero draft of the policy from the end of E-Cab.”
It may be mentioned here in order to tide over different types of anomalies and bring good governance in the sector, the Commerce Ministry last year issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) earlier in last year even if as per the directive, e-commerce companies can receive a maximum of 10 per cent as an advance payment.
