In an effort to get rid of excess inventory, ASOS has developed a special pop-up sample sale website with all goods priced at just £ 5, which is, in some cases, a 90 per cent reduction.
For a brief time, the website at asossamplesale.com will be operational and offer a selection of more than 2,000 items for women and men from ASOS-owned brands like ASOS Design and ASOS Edition.
The products made available for purchase on ASOS Sample Sale will not be available on the main asos.com website. The site is solely accessible to customers in the UK, and shipping and packaging will be handled using ASOS’ current fulfilment infrastructure and capability.
An ASOS spokesperson said of the move, “ASOS Sample Sale is a dedicated pop-up website for our UK customers to buy a selection of recent ASOS fashion at sample sale prices for a limited time only, with everything available for just £ 5.”
When ASOS reported its full-year results in October 2022, it made clear that it intended to ‘right-size’ its stock holdings. ASOS stated that it was on target to deliver a 20 per cent year-over-year drop in stockholding by the conclusion of its current financial year, with inventory in P3 down by about 15 per cent on FY ’22, in its most recent trading statement on 15th June.
In order to get rid of extra inventory, the online retailer also made an agreement with the discount website Secret Sales at the beginning of the year. ASOS will also fulfil orders sent through that channel.
