
Finnish sporting goods retailer Amer Sports has registered an 11 per cent increase in sales for the first quarter of the fiscal to € 635.5 million, with an income before interest and tax worth € 39.7 million.
The outdoor division of Amer Sports, which accounts for 59 per cent of business, also reported 11 per cent rise in sales. The growth at the company is driven by strong performance of textile and footwear products, which grew by 19 per cent and 16 per cent, respectively. The ball sports and fitness divisions’ sales zoomed respectively by 14 per cent to over € 186 million, and by 6 per cent to € 74.4 million.

The retailer is now is aiming for growth both in revenue and profitability terms for the full year as it keeps it focus on textiles and footwear sections, targeting markets like China, US. In addition to this, Amer Sports is mulling over widening its digital space as well to attract more consumers and increase its sales further.
Headquartered in Helsinki (Finland), the company, which reported revenues worth € 2,136.5 million in 2013, has brands like Salomon, Wilson Sporting Goods, Atomic Skis, Arc’teryx, Mavic, Suunto and Precor under its aegis.
