Amazon India has recently announced a reduction in selling fees by 3-12 per cent across 59 product sub-categories, including apparel, on its marketplace, effective from 9th September 2024.
The fee reduction is more significant for lower-priced items, particularly those priced under Rs. 500.
“For example, a seller offering printed T-shirts at Rs. 299 will now pay a reduced referral fee of just 2 per cent, down from the previous 13.5 per cent. This change results in a saving of Rs. 34 per unit for the seller,” Amazon stated.
This fee reduction comes just before the festive season, a period when e-commerce platforms compete fiercely, especially during Diwali. Although the timing coincides with the festive season, Amazon emphasized that these fee cuts are not temporary.
“With this initiative, we are taking a major step towards fostering a more seller-friendly ecosystem, enabling sellers to reinvest in their businesses for accelerated growth,” said Amit Nanda, Director, Selling Partner Services, Amazon India.
Amazon also mentioned that the reduced referral fees would apply to lower-priced products in categories such as Home, Apparel, Kitchen, Home Improvement, Wireless Accessories, Office Products, Sports, Shoes, Luggage, Pet, Jewellery, Beauty, Watches, and more.
