Amazon India on Thursday announced it is geared up to widen its fulfillment network in the country.
Under this expansion plan, the e-commerce major will set up 10 new fulfillment centres or warehouses in the country and expand seven of its existing buildings.
Post this expansion, Amazon will have more than 60 fulfillment centres across 15 Indian states.
“Amazon India’s fulfillment network will be spread across a floor area of more than 8 million square feet, more than the land size of 100 football fields, housing millions of items,” the company said in a recent statement.
Amazon India also highlighted that the increase in storage capacity in India is part of the company’s long-term commitment to invest in the country.
Akhil Saxena, VP, Customer Fulfillment Operations, APAC, MENA & LATAM, Amazon India, said “With the expanded network of more than 60 fulfillment centres, we look forward to creating thousands of job opportunities with competitive pay.”
The warehouses will open in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Patna, Lucknow, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ludhiana and Ahmedabad.
The company’s statement also underlined that these fulfillment centres will be operational before the festive season.
