Amazon has expanded its ultra-fast delivery service, Amazon Now, to more than 120 cities across India, doubling its coverage in two weeks. The latest expansion includes cities such as Amritsar, Abohar, Jalandhar, Ambala, Mangalore, Manipal, Vizag, Kochi, Changanassery, Bhubaneswar and Karwar.
Amazon Now offers delivery within minutes across categories, including fashion and beauty products, alongside non-apparel items such as groceries, personal care products, small appliances, and home and kitchen essentials. Orders are fulfilled through a network of nearly 800 micro-fulfilment and urban fulfilment centres.
Harsh Goyal, Vice President – Everyday Essentials, Amazon India stated that, “We are delighted to take ultra-fast deliveries with Amazon Now to India’s hinterland ahead of the Amazon Great Indian Festival. Amazon Now continues to be the fastest-growing ecommerce business unit in Amazon India’s history with orders doubling every quarter.”
He added that the faster rollout is aimed at making quick and reliable delivery available to more customers across the country, while the company plans to further scale the service during the festive season.
In September, Amazon said Amazon Now had crossed US $1 billion in annualised gross sales in India based on the preceding three-month period. The company is targeting a network covering more than 300 cities as it works to build what it describes as India’s largest delivery-in-minutes network.
Amazon is also expanding its specialised fulfilment infrastructure to provide customers with a broader selection of products from sellers. Amazon Now can deliver tens of thousands of products within minutes or a few hours, while more than one million products are available for same-day delivery, over four million for next-day delivery, and millions more through unlimited, free Prime Delivery, according to the company.
Ahead of the Amazon Great Indian Festival, which begins on October 8, customers will also have access to offers across categories on Amazon Now. On Amazon India, the festive sale will cover products including smartphones, electronics, fashion, beauty and home essentials. Customers using SBI credit and debit cards and EMI transactions will receive a 10% instant discount, while Prime members can receive up to 10% in additional savings.
Amazon Now’s expansion comes amid increasing competition among quick-commerce and fast-delivery platforms, including Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, Flipkart Minutes and Amazon Now.
According to a Datum Intelligence report, India’s festive online sales are projected to increase by as much as 29% this year to Rs 1.55 trillion compared with Rs 1.20 trillion in 2025.
Quick commerce is projected to account for around 16% of festive-season sales, compared with 12% last year. Order volumes in the segment were 47% higher year-on-year in August, while its gross merchandise value (GMV) run rate reached US $20.8 billion, up 41% from US $14.7 billion a year earlier, according to Datum Intelligence.
