The New Zealand-American sneaker start-up Allbirds is now into apparels!
While announcing the same yesterday (20 October), Allbirds launched 4 new apparel products that included a T-shirt, a wool cardigan, a wool jumper and a puffer jacket for men and women.
And these are eco-friendly too!
All the 4 new products are made of materials that have low carbon footprint. Besides, some of the fibres that Allbirds is using include responsibly sourced Tencel.
However, what makes these T-shirts sustainably noteworthy is that they have been made of discarded crab shells.
Jad Finck, Head of Innovation and Sustainability, Allbirds, said that the company is working with Marine Stewardship Council to certify the sustainability of these apparels.
While the T-shirts will be available at US $ 48, cardigan will come at US $ 145, wool jumper at US $ 135 and the puffer jacket at US $ 250.
The launch of the 4 new products on Tuesday comes almost 4 months after it forayed into selling underwear. That was a clear indication back then that Allbirds was venturing into apparels.
Expressing company’s plans to expand its apparel selections, Tim Brown, Co-founder, Allbirds, said that as it was with shoes, the company plans to start small with apparels too.
Founded in 2014, Allbirds today has stores in Auckland, Washington, DC, NY City, Berlin, London, Boston and Beijing, amongst others. It generated revenue of US $ 100.2 million in 2019.
