
Minister for Handlooms & Textiles S Savitha revealed that Kitex Garments, a well-known brand in the textile industry, has shown a strong interest in investing in Andhra Pradesh. She disclosed that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the company’s executives will shortly meet.
Minister Savitha spent Saturday, 7th June, at the Kitex Garments headquarters in Kochi, Kerala. She engaged with workers while inspecting the apparel manufacturing process. Andhra Pradesh has become a refuge for investments since Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu took office, Minister Savitha later emphasised at a news conference co-hosted with Kitex Garments Chairman Sabu Jacob.
The Kitex Garments unit is considering Satya Sai district as a priority location, according to Minister Savitha. She emphasised how the district will significantly ease product exports due to its close proximity to the Bengaluru airport, Krishnapatnam Port, and railway connectivity. The district of Kurnool, which is renowned for producing a lot of cotton, may be a ready supply of raw materials for Kitex Garments, she added.
Minister Savitha praised Kitex Garments’ business management and commended it for treating its 15,000 workers like members of the family. She revealed that Kitex is the biggest employer in Kerala’s textile industry and is regarded as one of the biggest clothing manufacturing firms globally. According to her, Kitex recently made an investment of Rs 3,600 crore (US $ 420 million) in Telangana.
The Minister conveyed her appreciation for Kitex’s enthusiasm in investing in Andhra Pradesh. She promised that Kitex management will soon be able to outline their investment plans at a meeting with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Minister Savitha had already visited every department of Kitex Garments’ headquarters. Sabu Jacob, the MD of the company, and other employees were with her.
