Fast Retailing, a Japanese apparel marketer witnessed an increase of 21 per cent in its sales, which reached ¥ 1.383 trillion in the fiscal quarter that ended on August 31, 2014. However, the profits for the fiscal year plunged to ¥ 130.4 billion, down by 2.8 per cent, which the retailer attributed to recording a ¥ 19.3 billion impairment loss in its J Brand premium denim operation, along with ¥ 4.6 billion impairment on stores. The company’s primary subsidiary Uniqlo owns several other brands, including J Brand, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Foot Park, Princess Tam-Tam, and National Standard.
