The Textile Export Facilitation Centre (TEFC) under the Textiles Committee, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, organised an awareness programme on “Maximizing Exports Through FTAs and Government Schemes” at Jaipur.
The programme aimed to help textile exporters understand how to make better use of Free Trade Agreements and was attended by nearly 100 representatives from textile manufacturing units, exporters, MSMEs, entrepreneurs, industry associations, and other stakeholders from across Rajasthan.
The programme comes at a time when India is preparing to implement the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) from July 15. Under the agreement, 99% of Indian exports will receive duty-free access to the UK market, creating significant opportunities for textile and apparel exporters.
Looking ahead, India is also expected to sign a Free Trade Agreement with the 27-member European Union by December, with implementation likely between February and March 2027. The upcoming agreement is expected to further expand market access for Indian textile and apparel exports, reinforcing the importance of helping exporters effectively leverage FTAs.
“We should make better use of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and government schemes to increase textile exports. By focusing on quality, innovation, value addition, sustainability, and global competitiveness, Rajasthan can strengthen its contribution to India’s textile export growth,” said Kartikay Dhanda, Secretary, Textiles Committee, Ministry of Textiles.
