The Gujarat government has issued guidelines for industrial incentives under the Gujarat Textile Policy 2024, categorising talukas for benefits and extending the schemes to textile units located in GIDC-notified areas in cities. The move follows a demand from the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) to include units in such industrial zones.
Industries minister Balvantsinh Rajput announced the guidelines at the Valsad district collector’s office, in the presence of SGCCI vice president Ashok Jirawala, Valsad BJP MLA and Lok Sabha Whip Dhaval Patel, and other dignitaries.
SGCCI president Nikhil Madrasi said the guidelines recognised groups of at least 20 women as a Self Help Group for self-employment initiatives, with each member eligible for a monthly benefit of up to Rs. 5,000. He noted that the objective was to boost investment in the textile sector, promote women’s empowerment, and create new employment opportunities in both rural and urban areas.
SGCCI vice president Ashok Jirawala stated that textile units established in GIDC-notified urban areas would now be eligible for government incentive schemes. He added that the guidelines also covered composite units with processes from spinning to fabric production, a move expected to give a significant push to the state’s textile industry.
