M&S has made its debut in Australia following its first international wholesale fashion agreement with retailer David Jones.
A carefully chosen selection of the British retail behemoth’s best-selling lingerie, womenswear, and sleepwear is available both online and in 24 David Jones department shops nationwide.
The move coincides with the retailer’s efforts to pick up steam and revive its struggling global business, which was shut down earlier this year due to a cyber attack. This is M&S’s first wholesale agreement for its fashion division, while its food division debuted in North America in 2022 with a collaboration with Target.
Mark Lemming, M&S Managing Director of International, stated that with consistent growth across food, fashion, home, and beauty, and strong brand momentum in the UK, the company sees significant opportunities to expand its business globally.
He noted that M&S is taking initial steps in Australia—a market that has long-standing and strong ties with the UK and where brand recognition is already high.
Lemming explained that David Jones is the ideal partner for M&S’s first fashion partnership in the region, given their shared values around quality, innovation, and trust.
Bridget Veals, Executive General Manager of Womenswear, Footwear, and Accessories at David Jones, said that the arrival of M&S marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the retailer, as it continues to curate a world-class portfolio of brands offering both elevated everyday essentials and exceptional value.
Veals added that David Jones is proud to be the exclusive home of Marks & Spencer Fashion in Australia and looks forward to building a strong and lasting connection between the global brand and its customers.
