
The market for non-woven, felt, and coated textile garments is anticipated to continue its upward consumption trend over the next ten years, driven by the growing demand for such clothing in the United States, says a report from IndexBox.
The market is expected to slow down and grow at a predicted compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of +1.5 per cent between 2024 and 2035, reaching a volume of 1.7 billion units by the end of 2035.
In terms of value, the market is expected to grow at a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of +3 per cent between 2024 and 2035. By the end of 2035, the market is expected to be worth US $ 11.7 billion (at nominal wholesale prices).
The consumption of non-woven, felt, and coated textile clothing in the US grew by 304 per cent to 1.4 billion units in 2024, marking the fifth consecutive year of growth. In 2024, the US market for non-woven, felt, and coated textile clothing increased significantly to US $ 8.4 billion, a 13 per cent increase over the previous year.
The United States produced 63 million non-woven, felt, and coated textile garments in 2024, a 16 per cent increase over 2023 production levels. The value of clothing made of non-woven, felt, and coated textiles soared to US $ 6.3 billion in 2024.
The United States imported 1.4 billion units of non-woven, felt, and coated textile clothing in 2024, a 360 per cent increase over the previous year. Imports of clothing made of nonwoven, felt, and coated textiles decreased somewhat to US $ 2.4 billion in 2024, in value terms.
Together, Vietnam (408 million units), Cambodia (268 million units), and Honduras (198 million units) accounted for 61 per cent of all imports of non-woven, felt, and coated textile clothing to the United States. With a combined 35 per cent, China, Thailand, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and the Dominican Republic trailed slightly.
With a combined value of 67 per cent of all imports, China (US $ 894 million), Vietnam (US $ 575 million), and Bangladesh (US $ 137 million) were the top three suppliers of non-woven, felt, and coated textile clothing to the US. With a combined 15 per cent share, Cambodia, Honduras, Myanmar, the Dominican Republic, and Thailand trailed slightly.
