K M Subramanian, President of the Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA), has officially inaugurated the TITAN Leap Centre, a cutting-edge skill development facility located on College Road in Tirupur. The inauguration
Subramanian participated in the ceremony alongside NE Sridhar, TITAN’s vice president and chief sustainability officer; Major Dominic JJ, TITAN’s head of corporate social responsibility; and Kumar Duraisamy, TEA’s joint secretary.
For choosing Tirupur as the site of this skill development institute, K. M. Subramanian conveyed his appreciation to TITAN and Kalike, TATA Trust. He underlined that as it will assist in meeting the growing need for trained labour, such an effort is essential to the development of the Tirupur industries.
He emphasised the substantial job prospects in Tirupur, noting that there are presently 2 lakh empty positions in Tirupur as a result of a lack of qualified candidates. Nowadays, manufacturers employ between 5,000 and 7,000 people, compared to 500 workers in the past. The goal is to grow to 15,000 workers per factory as a means of moving forward. In order to close this employment gap and improve global competitiveness, skill development facilities like TITAN Leap will be essential.
He added that consumers from nations like Bangladesh and China are drawn to Tirupur because of its potential. It’s time to take advantage of Tirupur’s enormous potential, and TEA is dedicated to tripling its present market share.
The project clearly demonstrates TATA’s basic principle of giving back to society, said Kumar Duraisamy. According to him, India’s youthful labour population would be a significant asset over the next fifty years, drawing attention from international markets such as China and Europe. Centres for skill development like TITAN Leap are crucial to meeting the expectations of the business as Tirupur expands.
Additionally, he emphasised Tamil Nadu’s dominant role in women’s employment in India, noting that 400 of the state’s 1,000 workers are female. This facility will support inclusive growth and further empower women.
Subramanian and Duraisamy reaffirmed the TITAN Leap Center’s contribution to the business by promising that TEA member exporters will hire its graduates.
TEA was asked to work with the TITAN Leap Centre as a knowledge partner by NE Sridhar, TITAN’s Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer. He underlined that these collaborations will guarantee sustained development and aid in the expansion of the sector.
