Indian apparel exports have witnessed a significant 12.9 per cent growth in December 2024 compared to the same month last year, according to the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC). This robust performance marks six consecutive months of strong growth for the sector, despite global economic challenges and subdued demand in major markets.
AEPC Chairman Sudhir Sekhri expressed optimism, stating that this growth momentum presents a crucial opportunity for India to expand its global market share and enter new territories. He emphasized the role of the upcoming Bharat Tex 2025 exhibition in facilitating new business partnerships and driving further industry growth.
Sekhri also highlighted the export growth from April-November 2024-2025, they went up by 14.3 per cent in the USA, 8.1 per cent in the UK, 33.6 per cent in Netherlands, 20.7 per cent in Spain, and 9 per cent in Germany.
Sekhri highlighted several key factors contributing to the positive outlook for Indian apparel exports, including improved product acceptance, adaptability to evolving consumer trends, increasing factory compliance with international standards, and supportive government policies.
