To improve efficiency and transparency for exporters of clothing accessories, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) plans to deploy a completely automated system for customs-bonded warehousing services. This program, which is expected to start in January, will make it easier to issue Utility Declarations (UD) and Utility Permissions (UP).
The required systems for customs bond services are prepared for deployment, NBR Chairman Abdur Rahman Khan declared during a training session at the agency’s Agargaon headquarters in Dhaka. These services will be available to bond licence holders through 31st December.
Representatives from the Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) attended the training session, which was organised by the customs bond automation project. In addition to expressing their support for the NBR’s proposal, BGAPMEA leaders also made their long-standing requests known, such as granting BGAPMEA the ability to declare utilities.
Among other stakeholders, the training event included discussions with BGAPMEA President Md Shahriar and NBR Member Md Moazzem Hossain, emphasising the joint endeavour to enhance customs procedures in the apparel industry.
