The resale marketplace eBay has declared that it will no longer charge fees to individual pre-owned clothing sellers in an effort to promote more circular purchasing in the United Kingdom.
All apparel products now listed, including those that were available before the news, will be subject to the feature, which does not apply to the sale of sneakers, watches, purses or jewellery.
It comes after competitor resale platform Depop made a similar announcement earlier this year that it will be doing away with selling fees for the UK market in favour of charging a “small” marketplace fee to purchasers in the area.
But the elimination of the selling charge is just one of the recent changes made to eBay.com.
The platform also revealed the launch of eBay Live in addition to a new AI-generated item description tool that reduces listing time and gives shoppers more customised feeds and searches.
Customers will be able to attend live auctions of specific commodities and make purchases in real time with this interactive livestream shopping experience, which will be tested in the UK through a limited number of merchants.
It comes after what the business said was a “successful” initial launch of eBay Live in the US in 2022.
Kirsty Keoghan, general manager of global fashion, stated in a release that the new capabilities are intended to facilitate faster clothing sales for customers.
