Intertextile, China’s biggest textiles trade expo, will take place on 6th-8th March at Shanghai’s National Exhibition and Convention Centre. Approximately 3,000 Chinese and foreign exhibitors will present their collections across Intertextile’s 190,000-square-meter display space.
Messe Frankfurt, the China Textile Information Centre, and CCPIT-Tex, the textile industry’s sub-council within China’s Council for the Promotion of International Trade, collaborated to organize Intertextile. The variety of items on display will be wide, while 1,200 exhibitors will showcase their collections at China’s primary fashion and clothing expo Chic, co-organised by CCPIT-Tex and the China National Garment Association, as well as the knitwear event PH Value.
As per the organisers, “At a time when the global trade fair industry is recovering after a period of disruption, the Chinese textile and apparel markets are buoyant, noting that China’s demand for clothing and footwear increased by 10.2% in 2023. Apparel exports are expected to bounce back in 2024, stimulating global economic growth.”
Sustainable items will be displayed in the All About Sustainability segment, which will include a selection of 25 vendors as well as an Oeko-tex-certified textiles pavilion. Beyond Denim, which focuses on the jeans market, the Accessories Zone, for component suppliers such as zips and buttons, the Functional Lab, which showcases performance fabrics for sports and outerwear, and the Premium Wool Zone, where exhibitors from the UK, France, and Italy will present high-end wool and cashmere.
The SalonEurope segment will also focus on European fabric expertise, with top materials from France, Italy, and Turkey. Finally, the Verve for Design area will include local, European, and Australian textile design enterprises.
The next edition of Intertextile will take place as China tests a visa-free entrance policy for travelers from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia, which was implemented in December last year and will be valid until November 2024. Intertextile relies on this approach to attract European consumers.
