Oxfam, the British charitable organisation, has teamed up with digital platform Depop in its constant efforts to lure people towards its #SecondhandSeptember campaign that’s running well.
The #SecondhandSeptember challenges shoppers to not purchase any brand new stock in September.
Notably, on Oxfam’s Festival Shop page, all the donated apparels have been chosen for resale by its recycle partner Wastesaver.
Depop with its massive global reach of over 16 million is expected to make the #SecondhandSeptember campaign a huge success. The proceeds from the campaign will be used by Oxfam in its continual fight to end poverty across the globe.
Here it is important to note that Depop, ever since its launch in 2011, has managed to add 16 million registered users and facilitated transaction of items to the value of US $ 500 million.
Earlier this month, Oxfam had announced the return of #SecondhandSeptember after joining hands with Selfridges to set up a pop-up at its London store.
Oxfam has been constantly persuading shoppers to resist their desire to buy new apparels or accessories for a month, and go for secondhand fashion that will also help increase the lifespan of apparels.
In these tough times, with apparel and fashion sales hit badly, there’s a growing demand for secondhand clothing and as per an Ebay report around 12 million people bought secondhand fashion products between January and June 2020.
