The Telangana (India) Government has inked a MoU with the Tamil Nadu-based apparel manufacturer Kay Ventures, to set up an ‘Apparel Super Hub’ at the upcoming apparel park at Peddur Village in Sircilla District.
The MoU signing ceremony was also attended by Telangana Information Technology (IT) Minister KT Rama Rao on March 13, 2018.
The upcoming facility will be developed in three phases and cover an area of 20 acres. It is expected to fully operational in the coming three years.
The State Government has plans to invest Rs. 100 crores in setting up the Apparel Super Hub which will house 5,000 state-of-the-art sewing units. Embroidery, printing, washing and value addition/support facilities will also be housed here.
A total of Rs. 30 crores will be invested to make the first phase of the project operational in the next 9-12 months. The State Government will fund 90 per cent of the investment while Kay Ventures and their associates will fund 10 per cent only.
The second and third phase will be funded with the support of Centre, State and Kay Ventures where capacities of 1,000 machines and 1,500 machines, respectively, will be created with the necessary infrastructural facilities.
“The hub will focus on the entire apparel value chain,” a top Government official was quoted as saying in a media report.
The proposed facility in the area is expected to offer employment to 15,000 people of which 90 percent jobs will be reserved for women. Kay Ventures will work with IL&FS Clusters for the establishment of the hub. The apparel manufacturer will rope in national and international brands to tap the capacities at the hub.
Telangana is aimed to boost the textile industry in the state including the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) last month proposed to set up a small- and medium-scale textile park in the state.
