Karl Lagerfeld has collaborated with UK-based artist and illustrator Steven Wilson for a limited-edition capsule collection of clothing and accessories that will feature designs made using layers of cyan, magenta and yellow hues forming the basis of the printing process.
The illustrator has created graphics that include a portrait of Lagerfeld, his cat Choupette, the brand’s logo, a camera and a pair of sunglasses, among others which will adorn embroidered satin bomber jackets, sweatshirts, jeans, a tote bag and accessories. The collection will be available for purchase in stores and online on April 1.

“The principle behind the graphics is that they are made using just three layers. Abstract cyan, magenta and yellow shapes are laid on top of one another to create a design that has identifiable form,” revealed Wilson, adding, “The beauty of this process is that where the colours overlap, you get secondary colours — red, green and so on.”
Wilson who has previously worked with brands such as Nike, Adidas, Levi’s, Converse and Stussy, will have his name and work used alongside Karl Lagerfeld’s. In the past, Lagerfeld has also worked with artist Tiffany Cooper on a capsule collection for the brand, followed by a comic book on Lagerfeld that was titled “Karl’s Secrets.”
