Soon after the exit of its Creative and Image Director Hedi Slimane, Yves Saint Laurent has appointed Anthony Vaccarello as the new Creative Director of the maison, effective immediately. Enthused about joining the French luxury fashion house, Vaccarello averred, “Mr. Saint Laurent is a legendary figure for his creativity, style and audacity. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the history of this extraordinary house.”
The Belgian designer has been the Creative Director of his eponymous brand since 2009. He has also spent three years at Versus Versace, first as an independent consultant designer and then, since 2015, as Creative Director. Vaccarello will present his first collection for Yves Saint Laurent in October this year, during Paris Spring/Summer ’17 Fashion Week.

He is the natural choice to express the essence of Yves Saint Laurent. I am enthusiastic about embarking on a new era with Anthony Vaccarello, and together bringing the maison further success.”
