It is a success story which will definitely move continuously towards growth. ‘Accessories By Nupur’, a Noida-based export firm headed by Nupur Batra Kukreja and producing handbags, stoles and other accessories, is putting its system in place by working towards being SA 8000 certified. The company is also adding home segment to its product portfolio.
Three years old into exports, the company which was earlier into domestic market is now enjoying chain stores and designers in its client base, witnessing 60 per cent growth year on year and is quite hopeful for the same in current fiscal despite all kinds of challenges. “Though our systems were okay earlier also, but to get SA 8000 some improvements were natural, like documentation. So while earlier instructions and responses were only verbal, now they are more systematic. The process of certification has also fine tuned our production floor with small improvements. Our interaction with workers has also increased, and which matters a lot,” said Nupur, an M. Phil. in Textile and Clothing, who was a student of NIFT earlier. Exporting its products to US, Japan, Spain and few other countries, the company has plans to go for other certification also and after SA 8000 process is completed within a month’s time, WRAP will be next on their radar.
As an expansion, ‘Accessories By Nupur’, has started production of cushion covers and will expand the same as its buyers are positive of further demand from the market. “The home products are for existing buyers of the US and Japan, with more exposure and backed by certifications we should get more orders,” added Nupur. Having factory in an area covering 8000 sq. feet, the company has an FOB range of US $ 15 to 40 as its products are highly value-added. Its brand ‘Ananaya’ is a melting pot of Indian heritage and international fashion trends.
