Klarna, the Swedish global payments network and shopping assistant powered by AI, is introducing 13 new products for fall 2023. Among the highlights is an AI-driven image search feature, allowing users to snap a picture and shop for related items. The company’s ‘Spotlight Fall’ initiative showcases these new additions, enhancing its discovery shopping feed on the Klarna app. This feed offers personalised product recommendations and now includes shoppable videos and improved payment gateways.
Sebastian Siemiatkowski, Klarna’s CEO and co-founder, emphasised the company’s commitment to being the smart choice for consumers seeking shopping inspiration, personalised recommendations, or the best prices.
Notable features of the new products include:
- Smarter Shopping: Klarna’s AI-powered image search empowers users to visually identify over 10 million items, such as clothing, home decor, and electronics. The in-app shopping lens matches these with over 50 million store offers, facilitating price and retailer comparisons. The AI shopping lens will be available to consumers in the UK, US, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
- Shopping with Videos: Shoppable videos, a blend of social, video, and e-commerce, are being introduced in the UK, Germany, and Sweden. Shoppers can directly purchase items they discover in videos, ranging from unboxings and tutorials to product reviews.
- Cash-back Programme: Klarna is launching a 10 per cent cash-back programme in the UK, departing from traditional points-based systems to offer consumers more transparency and flexibility. Shoppers can earn 10 per cent of their purchase amount back when choosing specific payment options at participating retailers.
Additional updates in the ‘Spotlight Fall’ launch encompass a seamless single sign-in solution for easier access, purchase protection, express refunds, and a gift card store. The initiative also prioritises sustainability with features recently unveiled, ‘Shop Circular’ search and a conscious shopping dashboard.
