
Park Young-sik, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Bangladesh, said that Korean companies will continue to invest in Bangladesh’s readymade garment sector and look forward to more CSR activities here.
“Building on the achievements of the past 50 years, both Korea and Bangladesh are committed to building a brighter and more prosperous future for our people,” he said at a recent seminar at a hotel in the capital, Dhaka.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Dhaka, in cooperation with the Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Dhaka office, organised the K-CSR Seminar 2023: “Korean Investors CSR Activities and Investment Prospects” to celebrate the 50th anniversary.
Diplomatic relations between Korea and Bangladesh. Park Young-sik said, “As we celebrate this important milestone in our diplomatic relations, we must recognise the important role of corporate social responsibility in this journey.”
He said that CSR is not just a buzzword. “Rather, it is a commitment to give back to the communities in which we operate. Korean investors in Bangladesh have demonstrated this commitment by making a positive impact on society through various CSR initiatives. From sharing high technology to promoting education, environmental sustainability, health and more, Korean companies have played a central role in Bangladesh’s social development,” the envoy noted.
As the chief guest, the Director General of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, Lokman Hossain Miah, called on Korean companies to invest in skill development along with treatment and medical equipment.
It may be mentioned here some renowned Korean apparel makers operate in Bangladesh even as the former is said to have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the Bangladesh garment industry.
