Florida-based streetwear brand A Bathing Ape (BAPE), known for its Bapetaverse metaverse, has joined forces with Bandai’s iconic Japanese virtual pet brand, Tamagotchi, unveiling an exciting collaboration. The partnership presents a fusion of co-branded products, showcasing specially designed Tamagotchi gaming devices and BAPE apparel adorned with imagery from both iconic brands.
The BAPE apparel collection features three stylish T-shirts and a hoodie that skillfully blends the distinctive imagery of both brands. The release for these virtual pet games and apparel is scheduled for 14th October, set to hit BAPE stores and the brand’s official website, followed by availability on the Bandai Premium web store from 15th October.
The limited edition Tamagotchi units maintain the beloved egg-shaped, portable design, offering players a digital pet experience where they can nurture, train, and interact. The game will now integrate Ape iconography and BAPE’s signature camouflage pattern on the exterior, available in three vibrant colours.
Tamagotchi, which gained immense popularity globally after its 1996 launch, has been engaging in various collaborations in recent years, spanning fashion (e.g., Supreme) and anime series (e.g., “Neon Genesis Evangelion”). On the other hand, BAPE has a rich history of collaborations with gaming brands and beyond, including the recent Bored Ape Yacht Club partnership. The brand is set to release apparel that combines its own iconic imagery with the renowned NFT collection, initially through a token-gated portal for NFT owners and later to the general public.
