
Ministry of Textiles allocates Rs. 10 crore to the Department of Textile Technology at the National Institute of Technology. This substantial grant under the National Technical Textile Mission, signifies a crucial milestone for the department and aims to foster innovation and facilitate the growth of talent within the realm of textile technology.
At the Department of Textile Technology, project coordinators Vinay Midha and A Mukhopadhyay stated that the National Technical Textile Mission is an initiative aimed at promoting innovation in the technical textile sector. They further stated that the grant is intended to enable cutting-edge technological advancement and foster talent in the field. These funds will involve establishing state-of-the-art research facilities, improving laboratory infrastructure, and the backing of collaborative projects addressing significant technical textile challenges in the industries.
Out of the 31 NITs across the nation, NIT Jalandhar stands as the sole institution with the Department of Technical Textile as NIT Jalandhar is the only one offering textile programs. This financial boost will help them explore new horizons in the research around areas like sports textiles, geotextiles, industrial textiles and medical textiles.
Monica Sikka, Head of the Department said that this synergy between the Ministry of Textiles and Department of Textile Technology, NIT Jalandhar was poised to yield transformative results.
