The Japanese pioneer in flat knitting technology Shima Seiki has introduced a whole new benchmark in intarsia knit production, the MACH2SIR machine, which promises unprecedented speed and efficiency. With the maximum knitting speed increased to 1.4 metres per second, the machine involves a new R2CARRIAGE System, which achieves quicker carriage returns after each course. Intarsia knitting is dramatically improved in the machine through the use of up to 40 intarsia carriers. The new intarsia carriers are more compact, fitting more carriers and thus allowing more colour changes within a given knitting width.
MACH2SIR features a yarn gripper equipped with a new lint remover for reduced maintenance. The patented stitch presser system used in the machine features a special motor-driven system which allows the pressers to carry out individual on/off adjustments in both knit and transfer, in either course direction. These pressers are able to hold down fabric gently for improved consistency and control, contributing significantly to quality shaping. Spring-type sinkers operate full-time regardless of carriage position, and provide gentle hold-down movement, realizing significant improvement in quality and texture for complicated three-dimensional fabrics.

In addition, as part of the newest generation of SHIMA SEIKI knitting machines, MACH2SIR carries over all the technological achievements for which SHIMA SEIKI is made famous, namely DSCS (Digital Stitch Control System); Full-Time Spring-Loaded Sinker System; Stitch Presser; Yarn Gripper and Cutter; Takedown System; and more.
MACH2SIR is an impeccable machine offering a blend of Made-in-Japan quality and reliability, productivity, user-friendliness and cost-performance that fulfils the high expectations already held by the global fashion industry.
