
SEL Group, a USD 400 million company, has gone seamless with Datatex ERP in a record time of five-and-a-half months since initiation of the project. Happy with the record, Neeraj Saluja, Managing Director, SEL Group says, “The system provides an integrated view of business performance while ensuring efficiency and transparency. The Datatex NOW ERP solution, chosen out of three potential software vendors is fully integrated to SAP FICO as its strategic platform and implemented on the IBM System platform. The solution includes sector-specific modules and supports all the production planning, materials management, manufacturing, marketing and financials at SEL. “In addition to avoiding the cost of buying, installing, powering and maintaining a second physical server, the company benefited from a single, integrated backup procedure for all its Datatex data,” added Z S Chaudhari, President – IT, SEL Group.
Growing at a compound annual growth rate of 40 to 60 per cent, SEL has expanded its manufacturing capacities in three verticals of yarns, textiles and garments in the past two years. The company plans to expand the spinning capacity of its world-class unit in Bhopal to a million spindles by March 2013. SEL that ventured into terry towels four years ago would be adding over 100 looms to the division, aiming to touch the mark of 325 looms by the end of the year, which will take their manufacturing capacity to 100 tonnes per day. The company is also venturing into denim fabric manufacturing and looking at a capacity of 40 million metres initially. Recently, the company has added 500 sewing machines to its garmenting capacities, to ramping up its capacities by 50 per cent, i.e. an additional 50,000 pieces.
