Centric Software, a leading provider of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, has announced the availability of a new 3D Sample Review mobile app.
With Centric’s 3D Sample Review mobile app, digital samples created by 3D vendors or in-house artists can be reviewed in a virtual scenario. Also, the comments for the changes required can be made in real time, without leaving the PLM environment. These digital assets can be attached to style data and incorporated into active line plans, giving an up-to-date view of where each product is in the sampling and review process.
Moreover, along with the reduced market and quality improvement time, the photo-realistic visualisation of a design concept helps in the rapid decision making and greater accuracy in costing, bills of materials (BOMs) and the manufacturing process.
“Making physical samples involves a significant material and labour cost, and typically takes a couple of weeks per iteration. It can take months to produce a final sample and begin production whereas with 3D, design and fit iterations are quick; thus, more design proposals can be reviewed prior to going to market,” says Humberto Roa, VP of Innovation at Centric Software.
The traditional fit process included live models trying each and every sample and the product development team then taking pictures and making corrections on the garment. These clicked photos were then edited and uploaded into the PLM systems with the necessary comments which were typed or transferred. The same procedure was followed for every sample.
“We are excited to announce that we are adding significant 3D capabilities to Centric PLM, beginning with 3D Sample Review,” says Chris Groves, President and CEO of Centric Software.
