HeiQ, a leader in textile innovation, has revealed that its HeiQ Viroblock NPJ03 textile technology has proven to be effective against SARS-CoV-2 in the laboratory.
Fabrics, when treated with innovation, show reduction of 99.99 per cent of virus.
HeiQ Viroblock NPJ03 is a textile treatment which gives the fabric antiviral and antibacterial properties. The treatment combines the properties of silver antimicrobial technology and vesicle technology, which continuously removes the viruses from the textile.
Moreover, it has also been tested against the coronavirus 229E and has been proved effective.
The testing against SARS-CoV2 virus was done by researchers at the Doherty Institute, a joint venture between the University of Melbourne and The Royal Melbourne Hospital, for public health, research and teaching on various infectious diseases and immunity.
For the test, a sample fabric was applied with the SARS-CoV-2 virus for at least 30 minutes and was measured for the remaining viruses. When treated with HeiQ Viroblock NPJ03 the fabric had no viruses left after 30 minutes. The result was the reduction of 99.99 per cent of virus from the fabric.
