ELeather Group announced that it has received the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) by Control Union Certification.
This is to give assurance to the customers that a number of latest ELeather materials contain a significant portion of recycled leather.
The RCS validation is used by the manufacturers as a standard to verify the presence and amount of recycled materials used in the final product.
It is basically a chain of custody to track recycled raw materials through the supply chain. The certification has been awarded for its four of the latest production and each of the new ones will also be certified for delivering transparency and reassurance to its customers.
The company uses the offcuts of leather and transforms them into a material suitable in the manufacturing of airplane seat to a luxury handbag, shoe and even a dog collar.
The offcuts are the leather pieces that are deemed unusable due to reasons like discolouration, scuff marks or other minor faults and are often discarded which amounts to thousands of tonnes of waste every year.
ELeather claims to have recycled over 7,000 tonnes of leather ever since it started the engineered leather production in 2007. Today, its material contains about 55 per cent recycled leather and therefore has been awarded RCS Scope Certification by Control Union Certification.
