Allied Feather + Down, supplier of ethically sourced down, rolls out Expedry quick-drying down that uses non-ionic, permanently bonded gold nanoparticles to help reduce the drying times.
The technology has been developed in collaboration with Fuze Biotech and features Fuze technology.
The solution available to all Allied partner brands is chemical-free and helps in easier care for down products, while also reducing energy consumption.
Experdry, using the particles, increases the evaporation rate of water therefore reducing the need of any heat for the drying process.
The technology is different from the available water-resistant treatments for down.
The DWR treatment works as a hydrophobic agent allowing the water to bead and therefore keeping the down cluster drier for longer. Once saturated, the treatment does not have any further ability to accelerate drying.
The new Expedry could prove beneficial than any of the DW treatments. Notably, the Expedry-treated garments will dry almost twice as fast.
