So, the next five years are going to be highly crucial for India’s economy. However, the apparel export industry and its future in the next 5 or even 10 years is seemingly not moving on the growth path.

Presently the apparel and textile exports collectively value US $ 44 billion and garment export constitutes around 35 per cent of this value that resonates an export value of US $ 16 billion! Does any trade body have any strong roadmap to ensure that the Indian apparel industry will survive and grow? Is there any major push on the existing buyers to increase their sourcing from India?

These questions are still unanswered and, until the trade bodies and the Government come up with a well-built roadmap, the growth may not be seen in garment exports!
