The Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW) has set forth its 2023-2025 Action Plan, aimed at elevating the fashion industry’s commitment to sustainability, diversity, and partnerships with minority-led organisations.
The updated plan extends the existing targets while introducing new goals, reflecting a dedication to educating consumers about responsible fashion choices which was clearly seen on the runway during the recent showcase of Spring/Summer 2024 collections.
Notable brands like Stine Goya, Baum und Pferdgarten, and Gestuz took center stage, embracing sustainable practices and innovation.
Ganni showcased its “Fabrics of The Future” program, featuring AI-inspired crystal-covered denim, utilising Oleatex and Algreen materials from olive oil production waste and seaweed, respectively.
Gestuz’s rebellion-inspired collection played with textures and proportions, presenting laser-printed denim and inventive styling, while Stine Goya’s “Homecoming” collection boasted laser-printed denim, cropped jackets, and denim bags with signature S-shaped handles.
Baum und Pferdgarten celebrated its hometown’s whimsy, integrating Copenhagen icons into prints and introducing pink denim with mermaid illustrations. Wide fits and GOTS certified denim were dominant themes across collections, with Skall Studio showcasing oversized jeans and elongated denim trousers. In a nod to Y2K, Paolina Russo collaborated with sustainable denim laundry Pizarro to create biodegradable denim pieces featuring floral insignia and neo-tribal graphics.
