One of the biggest fashion events in India, the Lakmé Fashion Week has launched a new program to identify and mentor young and innovative designers who are willing to push the boundaries of fashion and create a new ‘Norm’ within the industry.
Dubbed ‘The Platform’, the program poses as a progression for LFW from its popular ‘Gen Next’ designer search programme, and aims to lend impetus to an alternative genre of fashion which is unconventional, innovative and fearless.
The programme is a collaboration between LFW and smartwater and the theme for the first installment of the initiative is ‘Inspired by the clouds’, based on the origin story of smartwater as a brand.
While the ‘Gen Next’ category gives fresh designers in the industry a platform to be trained and mentored by fashion icons, ‘The Platform’ is a special initiative intended to provide a unique platform for emerging designers from across India to reach out to the fashion industry.
Designers applying to be a part of ‘The Platform’ ought to be in the business under one designer label name for a minimum of two years. Selected designers will then be trained and mentored by a prominent panel of the fashion fraternity and given the opportunity to showcase their collections in the upcoming season of Lakmé Fashion Week scheduled to be held in August this year.
Interested designers can register for the programme till 30th June 2018 at https://lakmefashionweek.co.in/ following which, the shortlisted candidates will be judged by an eminent jury from the field of fashion and design.
