American clothing and accessories retailer, Gap, has teamed up with GQ on the latest edition of the ‘Coolest Designers on the Planet’ series and has invited eight major brands to give their own twist to its classic Gap sweatshirt for men.
Featuring designers and brands including Balmain, Dsquared2, MSGM, No Vacancy Inn, Officine Générale, Opening Ceremony, Stampd and Surf is Dead, the collection includes one crewneck sweater and seven different hoodies, each blending in the respective designer’s individual logo with the signature Gap branding and channelling a very different style and aesthetic, ranging from MSGM’s oversized version to Surf is Dead’s boxy neon version.
“This year’s collection spotlights the iconic Gap sweatshirt, with collaborations from menswear’s most exciting names. It represents the very best of the Coolest Designers on the Planet program and the global influence of menswear in the thing we all really want to wear: a classic sweatshirt.” – Jim Nelson, Editor-In-Chief, GQ
Each brand has also selected a non-profit organization that would receive a portion of the proceeds from their sale of their respective pieces.
The collection is available at select Gap stores in the US, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, and throughout Europe and is priced between USD $ 78 to USD $ 148.
