As promised, we are back with the Day Review…! Day 2 of the ongoing Garments Machinery Manufacturers and Suppliers Association (GMMSA) Expo in Ludhiana (India) turned out to be a good one as ‘technology finds its adopters’.
The visitation at the booths of the technology providers was beguiling. As per the exhibitors, the second day of the exhibition was quite productive in terms of ‘quality’ visitors as they generated notable leads.
The sewing technology supplier Magnum Resources, which is displaying Brother’s Digiflex technology and Pegasus sewing machines to encash upon the opportunities in Ludhiana’s vibrant knitting market, was also on the similar tune. “We have seen that visitors are not great in numbers but the ones who are coming are devoting their time to understand what we are offering to them,” said Lalit Khosla, General Manager (Operations), Industrial Sewing Machine Division, Magnum Resources Pvt. Ltd.
Another tech mammoth, HCA is also grabbing the attention of the visitors due to its comprehensive range of Kansai machines in the knitting segment. Markedly, three machines of the entire range on display have been launched for the first time in the Ludhiana market.
“I challenge every machine supplier in the world to beat the innovations that Kansai has done in its overlock and cover stitch machines. We are providing customers with the latest innovations and improvements in our machines at much lower cost than others. Moreover, these innovations cannot be seen in any other machines than Kansai which is manufacturing 100% of machine parts in Japan itself,” claimed Bhavya Anand, Business Develop, HCA.
As far as flatbed knitting machines are concerned, Paradise Engineering made a sturdy presence with one of the renowned Chinese brands, Xing-Fu. The 16-gauge machine by Xing-Fu is fully-computerised.
While talking of providing quick after-sales services to the Indian customer and considering it as an important aspect to stay in business, Ram Krishan, CEO of Paradise, affirms, “I can guarantee service and support in the maximum of 24 hours across India.”
Further, renowned garment manufacturers like Vivek Lakra of SuperFine Knitters, Narinder K. Miglani of Selection Knitters and Abhinav Jain, Director, Roop Knits (Jain Udhay Group) also visited the show and explored technology on Day 2.
Content with products up on display at GMMSA 2018, Miglani said, “I found some interesting technology here. Further, as soon as the overall market condition will improve, the industry will definitely go for the latest technology/automation.”
On Day 2, Apparel Resources also observed some of the local mid-level garment manufacturers exploring new product categories as well as new buyers at the garment technology fiesta and succeeding too. One such visitors were Savijot Kalra, Business Development Head and Ravinder Kalra, Director, RR Apparels who told us that they are looking for stitching and value-addition machines at the show. They also shared that womenswear has recently been added to their product portfolio and are further planning to add some more products, for that they need relevant machinery and that’s why they visited GMMSA.
Another visitor, Abhinav Jain, Director, Roop Knits (Jain Udhay Group) informed that his group is focussing more on product development and is expanding in knitting, garmenting, and what better place can it be than GMMSA in the knitwear hub Ludhiana to explore the garment tech innovations.
Well, not only the locals, people from across the country are visiting the show, as claims Narinder Kumar, President, GMMSA. Stamping that, Rajender Jindal of Liberty Spinning Mills came all the way from Panipat to explore what’s new at the fair in terms of garmenting and hope that it’ll help him decide to venture into the same or not, as presently he is into home furnishings.
Apart from the much-loved technology side, GMMSA 2018 is playing a host to a good number of trim suppliers as well. Displaying interesting packaging materials, Peter Lennie, MD, Bell Packaging (Mumbai) told Apparel Resources, “We are delighted with the market response here and are expecting more business as visitors are quite satisfied with our samples.”
All-in-all, it appeared to be a better day for the exhibitors who observed a not-so-happening Sunday!
