
The Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) has formally announced the results of its elections for the 44-member Board of Directors and office bearers for the 2025–27 term.
The results were declared by the BTMA Election Board at the association’s Gulshan office in Dhaka, in accordance with Clause BB 24(1) of the Trade Organization Regulations 2025. The announcement was made by former BTMA president and chairman of the Election Board, Jahangir Alamin, in the presence of newly elected board members and nominated candidates for the top posts.
Showkat Aziz Russell was elected unopposed as president of BTMA for the 2025–27 term. Three vice-presidents were also elected, representing key industry segments. Shafikul Islam Sarkar was chosen from the textile product processing category, Muhammad Shamim Islam from the yarn manufacturing category, and Muhammad Abul Kalam from the fabric manufacturing category.
In addition, 25 directors were elected to the board for the new term. They are Mohammad Badsha Mia, Sajid Israk, Mohammad Tanvir Khan, Mohammad Shahid Alam, Mohammad Khorshed Alam, Afroza Khanam, Ruhul Amin, Mirza Ahmed Ispahani, Naim Hossain, Rubayet Haider, Engineer Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed, Sanjia Chowdhury, Chowdhury Mohammad Hanif Soaib, Syed Elias Shiraji, Syed Rezwanul Haque, Mohammad Kawsar Hossain, Nur-e-Yasmin Fatema, Nadiruzzaman Khan, B M Shoaib, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Sohel Khan, Mahbubur Rahman (Monir) and Matiur Rahman.
The newly elected office bearers and board of directors formally assumed charge from the outgoing leadership for the 2023–25 term during an official handover ceremony held on 18th December 2025.
