
In a united front, the new leadership of the Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) have pledged to work together to enhance the trade industry. They will put more of an emphasis on improving member service and bolstering communication.
With heartfelt thanks to all the members and voters, BGBA’s new President, Md. Mofazzal Hossain Pavel, Managing Director, Dongyi Sourcing Ltd. said, “I, along with my fellow elected EC members, stand firmly committed to driving positive change within our organisation. Our focus is on continuous improvement and ensuring the best possible representation for all members.”
“For the next 2 years, as President, I will give my best for the betterment of the sector. As a testament to my commitment, I have set a plan of action in 4 stages.”
“Regarding the accomplishments of the last month, we have formed a Standing Committee to aid in the advancement of BGBA’s development. introduced membership smart cards, which allow members to access a variety of services.”
According to the short-term plan, the president of BGBA stated, “We will move BGBA’s office to a new location with larger space in the next three months. Implementation of an easy and friendly membership registration and renewal process with a digital payment system. Upgrade website with modern features.”
Mofazzal Hossain Pavel added, “As for the long-term plan within the next 2 years, we will ensure an easy, faster registration and renewal process with the Textile Department (DoT). In addition, highlights Advance Income Tax (AIT) – as the garment factories provide much less AIT. So, we will request urgent policy support from the govt. and propose a uniform tax rate on export earnings – which will boost orders and grow our economy. Also, we will demand the Ministry of Commerce to give top exporters the CIP recognition for our sector. Organize trade fairs to oversee countries. Airport protocol and greeting services. And develop iOS and Android version Apps for BGBA.”
Speaking as the event’s special guest, Abdullah Hil Rakib, managing director of TEAM Group and vice president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA), stated that “effective communication is essential for success in the clothing trade and the industry as a whole. Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) and related industries hope to export goods worth US $ 100 billion by 2030. This is why the buying house industry is essential to getting orders shipped. Additionally, language communication is crucial for expanding markets and placing orders.”
As part of the transformation, the BGMEA Vice President added, “We must come out of tech peck based orders. Instead, for product diversification, building design and development capacity is paramount. Only working with pricing won’t give us the advantage.”
“Nevertheless, fibre diversification is also very important. In addition, we must look into value-added clothing such as technological textiles; higher SMV products are essential to boosting our company’s growth prospects.”
The event was attended by around 500 members and entrepreneurs from associated industries. A fashion show also added elegance to the occasion.
