The recently concluded SaigonTex fair, held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam saw huge participation from over 1,100 exhibitors from across 23 countries. Although visitors thronged the event searching for technology, exhibitors felt that the numbers were less than expected. Apparel Resources interacted with several exhibitors and visitors, and was happy to note the continued positivity in the industry.
Many leading technology providers like Ctex, Groz-Beckert, MorganTecnica, Camle JSC, Hikari, and Shima Seiki focused on new technology and innovations at the fair. Most of the exhibitors were also positive about Vietnamese market. “Although labour cost is increasing, efficiency, productivity and management keeps Vietnam ahead of many countries like Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos,” remarked Nobuhiro Nishimine, General Director, Shima Seiki Vietnam Co. Ltd.

Trinh Hoang Anh (Andy), Deputy General Director, Camle JSC averred, “Last year, market went down due to TPP and lot of factories were closed down in Vietnam, but the country has recovered tremendously and the market has grown rapidly in 2017. We are getting orders again and are doing better than countries like Bangladesh and Cambodia. We have good trade relations with America and Japan and even Korea. I can say that the first quarter of 2017 has been great.”
