Founded by Kallapa Awade, the Ichalkaranji-based Dattajirao Kadam Textile and Engineering (DKTE) Institute has been awarded the Best Industry-Linked Chemical Allied Engineering Institute (Degree) Award, post a survey conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). The award was presented to PV Kadole, Principal of the Institute, by Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE, Naushad Forbes, President-Designate of the CII, and R Mukundan, Managing Director, Tata Chemicals Limited.
901 colleges were shortlisted by AICTE and CII together, out of the 2,161 colleges that showed interest in the fourth such survey conducted for the educational institutes for engineering, management, pharmacy, and architecture. For participating in the survey, the institutes were asked to fill in all the data of their curriculum, faculty, services, projects and skills development, and placements of year 2013-14 and 2014-15 in an online application, which after submission would generate an indicative objective score which was used to create the shortlist. These scores were then presented to a jury comprising of experts from the industry and academia. Post that, the shortlisted institutes were asked to submit all supporting documents, after verification of which, the list of final winners was prepared.

“It is one of the greatest achievements of DKTE. We are in textile engineering for last the 33 years and have worked hard to achieve global levels. The first award in AICTE-CII survey indicates our hard work is bearing fruits,” expressed Kadole. “We are keen that the students get cutting-edge technology and best contemporary available knowledge. DKTE and private industries are complementing each other in a unique way which resulted in the award,” added Prakash Awade, Director, DKTE.
