Kihak Sung, the Chairman and CEO of South Korea-based global conglomerate Youngone Corporation has said that the textile zone at the Chittagong-based KEPZ (Korean Export Processing Zone) will become a textile hub in the country thereby bringing in even more business to Bangladesh but for that to happen he said support is needed to fully and quickly implement the same.
As per media reports, Sung, who is also Honorary Chairman of Korean Federation of Textile Industries (KOFOTI), maintained this during an interaction at the KEPZ recently even as he went on to add that to meet the demand of quality power supply for the sophisticated textile industries, while underlining that they are applying for the generation of captive power in the KEPZ even as he called upon the Government to make available licenses so that they can produce high-quality products for Bangladesh garment factories while also stressing on the need to produce manmade (MMF) fibres in the country.
Bangladesh needs to make a lot of efforts to produce and supply more MMF so that such a supply chain is established successfully here, reportedly, underlined Kihak Sung while adding that such efforts will help the country (Bangladesh) get a lot of businesses, not losing everything to Vietnam.
“I’ve units in Vietnam; they’re doing well and growing faster than Bangladesh. We need to catch up with that,” reportedly, underlined the Youngone Chairman.
