The International Textile Manufacturer’s Federation (ITMF) has got a new President after the selection of Youngone Corporation’s Chairman Kihak Sung as President of ITMF for the 2018-20 term.
Sung was reportedly one of the two Vice-Presidents of the previous committee. It may be mentioned here that the South Korea-headquartered Youngone Corporation is one of the first foreign investors in the textile and apparel sector in Bangladesh.
As per a statement by the company, Sung has reportedly assumed the Presidency of the Federation at a gala event held on September 7-9 in Nairobi, Kenya, attended by over 300 textile luminaries.
“This indeed is not only a great honour for Korea but also for Bangladesh and its 80,000 work-force,” reportedly maintained the statement.
Sung was conferred the highest class of ‘Order of Industrial Merit Gold Tower’ by the President of Korea in 2008, which followed his election to the top post as Chairman of the Korean Federation of Textile Industries, which he still holds.
The ITMF is among one of the oldest non-governmental organisations founded in 1904 with its headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
