
A delegation representing the Uzbekistan Textile and Garment Industry Association (UZTEXTILEPROM) called on office bearers of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) recently even if the principal reason for the meeting has been to foster collaboration and explore potential areas of mutual trade within the apparel and textile sector.
The Uzbek delegation comprising Mukhammadsaidov Bakhtiyor, the Head of the Department of Textile, Garment, and Knitwear Industry at the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, along with Sherzod Akbarov, Head of Department at UZTEXTILEPROM, and Mehdi Mahbub, Adviser at UZTEXTILEPROM, engaged in fruitful discussions with BGMEA Vice President Shahidullah Azim even as they presented a comprehensive presentation highlighting the competitive advantages of their textile and garment sector, emphasising the country’s strategic proximity and convenient access to CIS countries. As part of their efforts to strengthen trade ties even if they extended an invitation to a business delegation from BGMEA, encouraging them to explore potential business opportunities in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the BGMEA Vice President underscored Bangladesh’s growing focus on product diversification, particularly in high-value MMF-based garments while highlighting Bangladesh’s aspirations to explore export prospects in emerging markets like the CIS.
