Bangladeshi Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed has announced that a Memorandum of Understanding will soon be signed between BGMEA and Orient International Holding, a Chinese textile and apparel manufacturing firm. The industrial park will be set up at Gazaria in Munshiganj at a cost of US $ 2.3 billion within the next three years. Pitched as the largest apparel manufacturing park in Bangladesh, a feasibility study report has already been submitted by Orient International Holding. Once the MoU has been signed, the project will be executed in three years. “The Industrial Park will be able to employ over 2.5 lakh workers while the country will be able to export US $ 4 billion products,” the Commerce Minister informed.
