The Myanmar Garment Human Resource Development Centre opened a basic sewing training course, for the locals in Rakhine State, so as to bring about prepared work force once the Kyauk Phyu Special Economic Zone is emerged. The trainings started last month with basic sewing course, production course and financial literacy. The project is in operation in collaboration with Kyauk Phyu SEZ committee, to bring about prepared workforce for the industrial zones in the town. There are increasing international and local investors in Myanmar garment industry and it is one of the best ways to improve industrial development. The training is for free of charge. I think the training can also be great enhancements of women empowerment, rural development and in a way of poverty reduction as well.” There are plans to establish many industrial zones in Kyauk Phyu Township, requiring skilled workforce. So, in addition to sewing, it will develop other trainings as well, for those who are going to work in those industrial zones. 50 trainees are attending the first batch of the training.
