Trade through the Integrated Check Post (ICP) Petrapole at the Bangladesh-India border resumed recently following the withdrawal of strike called by the Bangaon Goods Transporters Association.
Media reports maintained this adding the strike which was called following the Border Security Force (BSF) of India, reportedly, seizing 82 fake driving licences and implementing a complete ban on such drivers carrying fake driving licence to ply trucks to Bangladesh through ICP Petrapole, ended following a discussion between the BSF officials and Bangaon Goods Transporters Association office bearers.
Following the withdrawal of the strike, import-export activity, reportedly, resumed at the ICP Petrapole, the largest land port in South Asia, situated along the international border between India and Bangladesh, around 80 km from Kolkata in West Bengal.
According to reports, trade through ICP Petrapole was disrupted on 17 January after truck drivers called a strike after the BSF seized 82 fake driving licences, taking cognizance of the spate in the smuggling activities at the ICP Petrapole.
