The delegation will visit Bangladesh’s Special Economic Zone in Araihazar, the Chittagong Port Authority, Sabrang Tourism Park in Teknaf, and the Korea Export Processing Zone.
According to sources at the Thai Embassy in Dhaka, the visit is the result of negotiations between Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Thai colleague SretthaThavisin during the latter’s April visit to Thailand.
Nalinee Taveesin will be accompanied by representatives from 14 Thai companies working in various areas like energy, industrial park, agro-industry and real estate.
On 14th July, the Thai Embassy will host a business matching session in partnership with the Bangladesh-Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Bangladesh is Thailand’s second-largest trading partner and a major source of tourism in South Asia. In 2023, Thai-Bangladesh trade volume was estimated to be US $ 1.18 billion.
The two countries signed a letter of intent to begin negotiations for a free trade deal. In August, Bangladesh will host a conference of Thailand and Bangladesh’s 6th Joint Commerce Committee to consider ways to increase bilateral commerce.
